Through short lectures and group discussions, we will examine themes such as the economy, power, and the impact of digitalization on learning and social norms.
Prerequisites
No prior knowledge is required for this study circle. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their background or experience with AI.
Objective
The goal of this study circle is to provide a broader understanding of AI’s role in society and to foster a dialogue about its impact from various social science perspectives.
Content
Examples of themes covered during the sessions:
- What is AI? Material aspects and economic perspectives
- What is the goal of AI development? Ideology and politics
- Who is the future for? Digitalization and power dynamics
- How does AI affect us? Cognition, “biohacking,” and the nature of knowledge
Format
Each session begins with a short lecture (approx. 20 minutes) by the circle leader, followed by a group discussion (approx. 40 minutes). Initially, the circle leader will guide the content to help participants feel comfortable getting started, but you will have the opportunity to influence the direction over time. No course literature is required.
The circle will be held in Folkuniversitetet's building on Bergsbrunnagatan 1. The circle will be held in English, unless all participants are more comfortable with speaking Swedish.
The circle leader
The circle leader, Viktor, holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology, with a focus on AI and its relationship to humanity. He has examined the phenomenon of AI within the broader context of digitalization, demonstrating that it cannot be understood in isolation from factors such as the economy, politics, the work environment, ideology, and other societal issues.
Join us to learn, discuss, and challenge your perspectives on AI in this exciting study circle!
The study circles starts once we have enough participants.
