This course is designed to help you navigate the challenges of starting over in a new country while unlocking the opportunities Sweden has to offer. For whom?
This course is for African women who have recently moved to Sweden. No prior knowledge is needed, just a willingness to learn, share, and grow together with other.
Goal
The goal of this course is to support you in adapting to life in Sweden by building practical skills, boosting confidence, and creating a network of like-minded women for lasting support.
What we’ll cover:
- Finding your way in Swedish society
- Understanding cultural differences and embracing diversity
- Building confidence to pursue personal and professional goals
- Networking with other women to create a strong support system
- Sharing knowledge, experiences, and challenges
Course format
This course is held at Folkuniversitetet in Malmö as a study circle. Sessions focus on open discussion, practical advice and group activities that encourage meaningful connections. The course is held in english.
Course leader
Florence Odur came to Sweden for more than 30 years ago. As an african woman new in Sweden, she was excited to live and thrive in Sweden but had challenges along the way. Through help from others who have been here before she overcame those challenges. As a Study Circle leader, she views her role as a discussion partner and coordinator which helps the group stay on track during the discussions. She cares about everyone in the room and wants to ensures that every participant has space to share their experiences and perspective, voice their questions, contribute equally to the shared learning process and connect with one another.
