Summer Swedish A1 Beginners
This is a beginner's course in Swedish. You will learn to use simple phrases in everyday situations, and become acquainted with basic Swedish grammar and some facts about Sweden.
Who is the course for?
This is a course for you with no or very limited prior knowledge in the Swedish language.
- To be able to introduce yourself and talk a little about yourself
- To be able to use simple phrases in everyday situations
- To understand most what is said in simple and slow speech about familiar topics
- To be acquainted with basic Swedish grammar
After the course, you will have some of the knowledge of Swedish at level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- The alphabet and numbers
- Basic grammar
- Basic rules of pronunciation
- Vocabulary and phrases: introductions, telling the time, shopping, leisure activities, daily activities, family and relations
Rivstart A1+A2 (textbook and
workbook) by Paula Levy Scherrer and Karl Lindemalm, second edition from 2014
, Natur och Kultur, Stockholm. The course covers Chapters 1-10. The books are not included in the course fee. Please buy the books yourself and bring them to the first class.
60 teaching hours of 45 minutes each. The course is given Monday-Friday at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during two weeks.
A guided tour of Uppsala is included in the course price.

Once the registration opens, on March 15th 2019, to register for the course, go to "Boka kursen nu" to the right. You will be able to choose an application form in Swedish or in English. If you do not have a Swedish personal number, please use the English form, and note that you will have to pay with credit card when registering. . When booking the course, if you do have a Swedish personal number, you can choose to pay by invoice or directly by credit card online. Shortly after you have applied, you will receive a confirmation of your booking via e-mail, and about one to two weeks before the course starts you will receive a course notice, and an invoice, if you have chosen this payment method.

For information about our general terms of registration, please follow the link below. Please note that for our summer courses, we charge an administrative fee of 50 % of the course fee if you cancel your booking after June 1st (if there has also been more than 14 days since you applied). In the case of too few registrations, we may cancel the course.
We offer a 20 % student discount to students at Swedish universities and colleges. To get the discount you must claim it when registering and choose to pay by invoice.
