GreenComp School

Cross sectoral GreenComp training of primary school stakeholders, for the promotion of a sustainability mindset.

Responding to the ambitions of the European Green Deal, GreenComp School aims to strengthen the capacity of current and future teachers to integrate sustainability across different subjects. The project’s ultimate goal is to foster a sustainability mindset among primary school pupils through innovative, participatory, and cross-sectoral approaches.

Through the project, GreenComp School will:

  • Adapt and validate the GreenComp framework for school education.

  • Design micro-credential training programmes for teachers in higher education (HE) and vocational education and training (VET).

  • Develop interdisciplinary and participatory teaching methods for classroom use.

  • Create project-based learning activities and educational games for pupils and parents.

  • Implement digital tools to support and validate the GreenComp learning approach.

  • Launch GreenComp Fairs, offering hands-on sustainability experiences for pupils, parents, and teachers.

  • Produce policy recommendations to strengthen teacher training systems in sustainability education.

Over the course of the project, at least 60 current teachers and 200 future teachers will complete GreenComp School training and receive micro-credentials. Around 200 pupils and 200 parents will take part in classroom and non-formal learning activities, while more than 3,000 schools and 600 stakeholders will engage through GreenComp Fairs and conferences.

Expected results include:

  • A validated GreenComp framework for schools
  • Two accredited training courses
  • Participatory classroom activities
  • Educational games
  • E-learning platform,
  • A GreenComp Fairs methodology,
  • Policy recommendations to support systemic change in sustainability education.
