What is Climate Fresk?
Climate Fresk is an internationally widespread, research-based, and interactive workshop on climate change, based on reports from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Since its launch in France in 2018:
- More than 2 million people have participated
- In over 160 countries
- Used by universities, schools, municipalities, NGOs, and companies
In Sweden, Climate Fresk is used, among others, by:
- Universities (including Lund University – Sustainability Studies)
- Student associations
- Nature conservation organizations
- Adult and popular education providers (Studiefrämjandet, among others)
- Schools and museums
How does the workshop work?
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Group size: 4–7 people per table (works with 3–15 participants in total with 1 facilitator)
Method: Participants work together using 42 fact-based cards grounded in IPCC science.
Together, the group builds a map of:
- The causes of climate change
- Human activities behind emissions
- Consequences for nature, society, and people
- Links to biodiversity and tipping points
- The focus is on dialogue, collaboration, and understanding — not on lecturing.
What do participants gain?
After the workshop, participants have:
- A shared, scientifically grounded understanding of the climate issue
- Insight into cause-and-effect chains
- A stronger vocabulary for talking about climate issues with others
- Often: increased motivation to get involved
