Överföring är ett grundläggande begrepp inom psykoanalysen, men både hur det ska förstås teoretiskt och hanteras kliniskt är fortfarande omdiskuterat. När överföring reduceras till ett verktyg för påverkan eller suggestion uppstår också viktiga etiska risker. I den här föreläsningen ger Dr Leon S. Brenner en introduktion till överföringens teori och praktik inom den freudianska och lacanianska kliniken. Med utgångspunkt i både teori och kliniska exempel belyser han varför överföring inte kan förstås som ett enhetligt fenomen, utan måste hanteras på olika sätt i arbete med neurotiska respektive psykotiska patienter. Föreläsningen visar hur dessa skillnader är avgörande inte bara för den psykoanalytiska tekniken, utan också för analytikerns etiska hållning.

Transference is a foundational concept of psychoanalysis, yet its theoretical definition and clinical handling remain subject to significant disagreement. This lack of consensus carries ethical risks, particularly when transference is reduced to a tool of influence or suggestion. Freud was acutely attentive to these dangers, repeatedly warning against the exploitation of transference and the misuse of its inherent power within the analytic situation. This lecture offers a concise orientation to the theory and practice of transference in the Freudian and Lacanian clinic. It argues that transference cannot be approached as a unified phenomenon across clinical structures, but must be handled according to distinct modalities in work with neurotic and psychotic patients. Drawing on clinical examples and theoretical elaborations, the lecture explores how these differences are decisive not only for technique, but for the ethical position of the analyst.
Dr. Leon S. Brenner (Ph.D) is a psychoanalytic practitioner and psychoanalytic theorist from Berlin. Brenner’s work draws from the Freudian and Lacanian traditions of psychoanalysis, and his interest lies in the understanding of the relationship between culture and psychopathology. His book The Autistic Subject: On the Threshold of Language, is a bestseller in psychology in Palgrave/Springer publishing in 2021. He is a founder of Lacanian Affinities Berlin (laLAB) and Unconscious Berlin.
During the autumn of 2026 and early spring of 2027 Aning - Association for Philosophy and Psychoanalysis will present 4 lectures on "fundamental concepts". Each lecturer have been asked to chose one concept that they find especially important, relevant and/or interesting to talk about.
