Lemons, mint, petals, splashes of champagne — in this one day weekend course you will use these motifs to create vibrant summer patterns
Course structure
- First, you will paint simple compositions using acrylics
- After creating the painted elements, you will scan them and build a pattern using Photoshop
- By the end of the workshop, you will have a finished A3 printed pattern to take home, as well as a digital seamless pattern. This file can be then used for printing in any format — from wrapping paper to textiles, such as bedding
The course is held in English.
Material
You will need to bring your own laptop to edit the pattern. The cost of material is included in the course price. You will paint with acrylic paints on paper.
Other
The course is held in Folkuniversitet's art studio. Please note that the room is not accessible to people with reduced mobility, as it is located on the ground floor and can only be reached via stairs. There is no elevator.
About the course leader
Violetta Borigards received her art education in Ukraine, at the Lviv Academy of Printing, as well as through in-person intensive courses at the British Higher School of Art and Design.
After her studies, she worked across various fields of visual arts: advertising photography, design, video production, fashion photography, food styling, texturing game scenes, and creating characters for video games. In 2014, she became a children’s book illustrator. Her work was represented by the UK-based agency Advocate Art. Over four years of collaboration with international publishers, she illustrated 17 books.
One of Violetta’s most unique qualities is how contagious her passion for creativity is. Thanks to this, she has built many artistic communities — for example, launching regular sketching clubs in different cities across Ukraine.
Violetta has been immersed in art all her life. She’s explored many different techniques, is skilled in academic drawing and painting, and is also fluent in digital image-making. These days, she prefers working with tactile materials and mixed media techniques.
