Target group
Students with no previous knowledge of the Swedish language.
Aim of the course
To learn basic Swedish for everyday situations, for example greeting someone, ordering something, giving and asking for simple information.
Course content
Module 1 – Communication and Use
- simple ways of introducing yourself, greeting someone, shopping,
ordering at a restaurant, talking on the phone, arranging a meeting etc. - asking for information
- describing your house/home, your family and your own country in
simple terms - discussing and asking about everyday life in the present and past tense
- reading simple texts and dialogues
- writing simple messages
- writing everyday life in simple terms
- information about Sweden and Swedish culture
Module 2 – Structure and pronunciation
- numbers
- time, days of the week, dates, months, seasons
- word order
- verbs and nouns
- adjectives and pronouns
- pronunciation and Swedish intonation
Teaching methodology
The main focus is on spoken communication and the teaching is in Swedish from the beginning. In class you take an active part and practise the language in real life situations through simple dialogues where grammar and new vocabulary are integrated. Homework consists of short exercises to help you consolidate what we have learned each day.
OPTIONAL: Extended course
In addition to your morning course, you can choose to have additional hours to practise your individual needs in grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, professional language etc. These hours are just you and your teacher.
Choose among:
- 12, 18 or 24 individual study hours*
(+8925 SEK, +13.375 SEK or +17.825 SEK) - Occasional study hours* (+750 SEK/study hour*)
* 1 study hour = 45 minutes
Teacher
Our teachers are well qualified and experienced.
They teach exclusively in Swedish.
Course literature
Rivstart A1+A2 by Paula Levy Scherrer and Karl Lindemalm, 2014 edition (text and excercise book). Course books are not included in the course fee. You will be able to use these books also in the next level A2. When you advance to a B1 course, you need to buy new course books.

The next level is the course "Svenska A2".
To register for a course
Go to the red button "BOKA KURSEN NU" and fill in the application form.Click on "Use the English booking form" if you do not have a Swedish personal number. You will get a confirmation of the registration, and then close to the start another e-mail with all the practical information. You will also get a payment link from Walley Checkhout, where you can choose how to pay. Payment in cash is not possible.
