Help expand your vocabulary and improve your accuracy with the rich world of books. You will read, discuss, and compare 6 modern short stories written by American authors. The stories will be 9-40 pages long. All were published between 1945 and 1990, covering genres such as Science Fiction, Southern Gothic, and African American literature. Most texts are available free online. All have free audio recordings available.
Lessons are held online via Teams.
Who is this online course for?
This course is for students who are already at B2 level but feel they need to improve their speaking skills and confidence.
Aims of the course
- to develop your range of vocabulary through a variety of themes and topics.
- to teach you how to avoid common mistakes at your level so that you speak more accurately and correctly.
- to improve your ability to participate more naturally and fluently in conversation and discussions.
Working methods
- The course is taught exclusively in English by a teacher who has English as a native language.
- Class size is between 5-8 students.
- Discussion will be as a group.
- You will be assigned a section of the book to read every week.
Course material
The teacher will give you more information before the beginning of the first lesson. You who participate in the course get the book yourself and it is not included in the fee.
Teacher
Renee Vrtiska has a bachelors degree in English from the University of Miami and has taught English to native speakers and second language learners since 2018. Her business experience ranges from leadership positions in philanthropic organizations to small business and educational institution board rooms in the US and Sweden. In her spare time, Renee is an avid reader of history and literature.
