Tradition, Modernity, and Cultural Identity in a Globalised World
For many people in Sweden, Vietnam is associated with memories of the 1960s—anti-war demonstrations and a strong spirit of international solidarity. But more than half a century has passed, and Vietnam has changed profoundly. This raises an important question: Where are Vietnam and Vietnamese culture situated today in an era of globalization—when tradition meets modernity, and historical memory meets urban life and global connections?
Fifty years of Vietnam’s history depicted through the works of the artist Đặng Thị Khuê
Within this broader picture, the artist Đặng Thị Khuê and her more-than-fifty-year artistic journey also reflect the ups and downs, as well as the transformations, of Vietnamese art—from the collective consciousness of wartime to deeper explorations of identity and the inner world of women.
