This course for beginners and intermediate players teaches you both fundamental and more advanced techniques, chords, rhythms, and playing styles.
Prerequisites
This course is ideal for those who have never played electric guitar before or want to review and strengthen their basic skills before moving on. The course is suitable for participants aged 16 and above.
Course Goals
The goal of this course is for you to be able to:
- Play simple songs and melodies
- Understand and apply basic chords and rhythms
- Gain the confidence to continue developing your guitar skills on your own
Course Content
- Basic and some intermediate chords
- Rhythm and strumming techniques for different styles
- Finger placement and grip
- Playing simple melodies and songs
- Tips on tuning, pick techniques, and guitar maintenance
Course Structure
The course runs once a week for 7 weeks, totaling 9 study hours. The course is taught in English. Classes are held live via Microsoft Teams in a small group setting.
Course Materials/Literature
Course literature is not included in the course fee. Information about the materials used will be provided in the course invitation. The teacher also uses supplementary materials to keep the lessons varied and engaging. The course is entirely online via Microsoft Teams. Therefore, you need access to a computer with a camera, microphone, speakers, and an internet connection.

Kursledare
Stefan Miladinov
Stefan Miladinov is a guitarist, music educator, and researcher of Balkan folk traditions. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz and Pop Guitar Performance from UKIM - Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje.
At Folkuniversitetet, he teaches guitar with a focus on phrasing, vibrato, and blending technique with musicality, helping students develop their unique sound. He has also worked as a private guitar tutor for over a decade, providing tailored lessons for students of all levels.
Outside of teaching, Stefan has performed with acclaimed artists, including Zarina Prvasevda, whose ensemble won the UPBEAT Best New Talent Award in 2023. He has played at major festivals such as Balkan Trafik in Brussels and recorded with bands like Chromatic Point (“Sliki od Starata Kukja” (2014), “Izgrev” (2016)), Petar Malinov (“100 denari” (2014)), and Cobalt Code Unit (“Soilwork” (2020)). Passionate about folk music, he researches Macedonian musical traditions, working to adapt tambura techniques to the guitar and integrate them into contemporary genres like world music, folk rock, and metal.
