ABOUT THE CLASS:
Feldenkrais is a somatic movement technique where we work from a skeletal point of view.
With a focus on neural plasticity and the idea that the brain can change we work through minimalistic movements in order to open up for new articulations, chains of thought and movement possibilities, to break habitual patterns and balance our nervous system.
It's injury preventing and can be used as a rehabilitation technique or just as a practice to sharpen one’s technical tools and movement awareness.
In Feldenkrais we give space and exercises for the unmeasurable such as; intuition, sensing, listening from a physical point of view.
It is both a very precise, sensible and poetic work.
In Julia's classes we will explore the Feldenkrais technique into our dance practice.
Each class will start with a feldenkrais class with a specific focus which leads into guided movement improvisation and embodied explorations in the room.
Julia is interested in instant transformation and how one can take the immaterial structures, sensation, notions, flows that occurs through the somatic work and give structure and form to it through movement in the room.
Through functional research, hands- on work, through practicing sensing and exercises in imagination and improvisational exploration, we will uncover the expansive potential of our physical form, maximizing efficiency as we drop effort.
When we invite the spirit of curiosity and take on the role of an investigator as we discover how a small shift in perspective can transform our experience of movement profoundly spark creativity and imagination.
