Marie Lindqvist joined the Royal Swedish Ballet soon after her graduation from the Royal Swedish Ballet school in Stockholm, Sweden. She then began a dance career as one of Swedens most celebrated ballerinas. At the age of 19 she got her breakthrough as Odette/Odile in Natalie Conus Swanlake and ever since, she has performed most of the leading roles in the big classical ballet repertoire. Maries technical brilliance aswell as artistic bravura has also been shown in many neoclassical and contemporary works by the world`s most renowned choreographers such as: Balanchine, Mac Millan, Nacho Duato, William Forcythe, David Dawson, Twyla Tharpe, Ulysses Dove, Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Birgit Cullberg, Per Jonsson, Birgit Åkesson, Alexander Ekman, Glen Tetley, Krzystof Pastor, John Neumeier, Christopher Hampson, Alvin Ailey, Alonso King, Maurice Bejart among others. Besides private guest appearances she has also been touring with Stockholm 59º North aswell as the royal Swedish Ballet in Europe aswell as USA and Asia. In 2004 she got the honor to become promoted to Royal Court dancer and in 2014 she was given a medal called Litteries Artibus, both by the Royal King of Sweden.
