Ballet

The course gives students the opportunity to develop fundamental technical and stylistic skills as well as theoretical knowledge in ballet, enabling them to apply for professional education at university or equivalent advanced level.

Content:

  • Technical and stylistic training focused on strength, coordination, body control, placement, and posture.
  • Ballet as a training system.
  • The historical development of ballet and its relationship to other art forms, society, and stage performance.
  • Basic ballet terminology.
  • Self-leadership and personal responsibility.

Jazz

The course gives students the opportunity to develop fundamental technical and stylistic skills as well as theoretical knowledge in jazz dance, enabling them to apply for professional education at university or equivalent advanced level.

Content:

  • Technical and stylistic training focused on strength, coordination, body control, placement, and posture.
  • Jazz as a training system.
  • The historical development of jazz dance and its relationship to other art forms, society, and stage performance.
  • Basic jazz terminology.
  • Self-leadership and personal responsibility.

Modern/Contemporary 

The course gives students the opportunity to develop fundamental technical and stylistic skills as well as theoretical knowledge in modern/contemporary, enabling them to apply for professional education at university or equivalent advanced level.

Content:

  • Technical training and partner work in modern/contemporary dance, focused on strength, coordination, body control, placement, posture, and movement dynamics. 
  • Musicality and technical application in dance flow. 
  • The historical development of modern/contemporary dance and its relationship to other art forms, society, and stage performance. 
  • Self-leadership and personal responsibility. 

Complementary and Sustainable Training 

The course gives students the opportunity to develop knowledge and strategies for a sustainable career in dance, focusing on both physical and mental aspects.

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Exercise science
  • Mental training
  • Nutrition and dietetics
  • Individual coaching

Stage

The course gives students the opportunity to gain practical experience in choreographic processes and stage performance.

Content: 

  • Rehearsal and repetition of choreographies in various dance styles, in ensemble or solo.
  • Integration of technique, dynamics, and rhythm with personal expression.
  • Work with lighting and sound.
  • Stage performances.

Street/Hiphop

The course gives students the opportunity to develop fundamental technical and stylistic skills as well as theoretical knowledge in street/hip-hop, enabling them to apply for professional education at university or equivalent advanced level.

Content:

  • Technical training in street/hip-hop with focus on strength, coordination, body control, placement, and posture.
  • The historical development of street/hip-hop dance and various street styles, and their relationship to other art forms, society, and stage performance.
  • Self-leadership and personal responsibility.

Improvisation and composition

The course gives students the opportunity to develop artistic and personal expression through improvisation and composition.

Content:

  • Introduction to composition and improvisation techniques.
  • Introduction to tools and structures in composition and improvisation.
  • Guidance to experiment with and analyze personal choreographic ideas.

Showbiz

Showbiz
The course gives students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of artistic practice and culture as well as gain increased insight into the structure of the dance industry, career opportunities, and educational pathways.

Content:

  • Performing arts experiences.
  • Study visits and collaboration with cultural actors in northern Sweden.
  • Lectures and workshops with professional artists.

Audition training

The course gives students the opportunity to develop understanding and practical experience of auditions before jury groups, as well as strengthen their skills and self-awareness to apply for professional education at university or equivalent advanced level.

Content:

  • Practical audition sessions and choreographed dance auditions in ballet, jazz, modern/contemporary, and/or street/hip-hop.
  • Individual feedback.
