Heather Telford

Balett, modernt och yoga

Heather Telford was born in Vancouver, Canada. She studied dance with Sheila Murray, Arts Umbrella Youth Dance Company, L’École Superieure de Danse du Quebec, and spent many summers at the Banff Festival of the Arts. She joined Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (Montreal, Canada) where she danced from 1993-1999. She went on to dance with Grand Théâtre de Genève (Geneva, Switzerland) and she has been a member of Göteborgs Operans Danskompani (Goteborg, Sweden)from 2003-2016. During those years, she has also been involved in international projects with Liberamae (Montreal), Rumpusroom Dance (Sweden) as well as many independent collaborations . She has had the opportunity to work with many choreographers such as Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Wim Vandekebus, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, Guy Weizman, Marie Chouinard, Alex Ekman, Sabouro Teshigawara, Jo Strømgren, Ina Christel Johannessen, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Johan Inger, Jo Kanimori, Martin Forsberg, Cristina Caprioli, among many others. Her choreographic work has been presented at the Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival, Nudans (youth choreographic project Göteborg), The Banff Centre, and the Schmiede Festival in Austria (multimedia arts festival) As well as choreographic workshops in Geneva and in Montreal. She has been invited to teach in Vancouver for Arts Umbrella summer intensive in 2016(teaching yoga, rep and Impro techniques). Her recent works include directing and editing a short dance film “Impermanence” and collaborating on an improvisational project “Antichamber.”(2015) with Chalmers University Architecture students. She is a certified yoga teacher (YA 500+) and has been teaching for over 8 years. Her interest in movement based therapy has led her to the study of Craniosacral therapy which she is currently studying in Copenhagen.
