Who is the course for?
This is a course for you with no or very limited prior knowledge of the Swedish language.
Objectives
- To be able to introduce yourself and talk a little about yourself
- To be able to use simple phrases in everyday situations
- To understand most what is said in simple and slow speech about familiar topics
- To be acquainted with basic Swedish grammar
After the course, you will have some knowledge of Swedish at level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Before applying to the course, please take the language level test. You find the test here: https://www.folkuniversitetet.se/in-english/language-level-test/
Send the test result to summerswedish.uppsala@folkuniversitetet.se. A Swedish teacher will have a look at the result and recommend a proper course level.
Content
- The alphabet and numbers
- Basic grammar
- Basic rules of pronunciation
- Vocabulary and phrases: introductions, telling the time, shopping, leisure activities, daily activities, family and relations
Course format
60 teaching hours of 45 minutes each. The course is given Monday-Friday at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during two weeks.
Course material
Rivstart A1+A2 (textbook and workbook) by Paula Levy Scherrer and Karl Lindemalm, Natur och Kultur, Stockholm. The books are not included in the course fee. Please buy the books yourself and bring them to the first class.
Guided tour
A guided tour in Uppsala is included in the course fee.
Application
To register for the course, go to "Boka kursen nu". You will be able to choose an application form in Swedish or in English. If you do not have a Swedish personal number, please use the English form. Shortly after you have applied, you will receive a confirmation of your booking via e-mail, and about two weeks before the course starts you will receive a course notice.
Discounts
Students at a Swedish university are entitled to a 20% discount. Please take a photo of your student card (Mecenat or similar) and send it to summerswedish.uppsala@folkuniversitetet.com to get the discount.
