This class is for those with some prior knowledge of digital music production, either from our beginners digital musikproduktion course or elsewhere. The class will be held in English, though the teacher has Swedish as a second language. You will also need good computer experience.
Goals
The goals with this class are to build on your previous experiences and knowledge. We will continue to create remixes, beats, and songs with a DAW (digital audio workstation) using more advanced techniques. We will also further our understanding of music theory and how it can be used as a creative tool. There will also be a larger focus on genre breakdowns with a specific focus on the working practices of individual digital music producers. At the end of the course you will have gained a deeper understanding of digital music production and be able to confidently create music within your chosen DAW.

1. Introduction to advanced music production techniques (side chain, bus, mastering etc.)
2. Introduction to advanced mixing techniques
- Advanced MIDI automation
- Advanced synth editing and creation
- Advanced recording techniques
- Advanced effects chains
3. Advanced composition techniques within a DAW
- Creating a remix
- Creating a beat
- Creating sound art
- Writing a song
4. Genre breakdown and artist spotlight
5. Practical application of techniques covered by the course.
The class will be held by an experienced teacher. The participants are encouraged to ask questions and share their music with the group so everyone can learn from each other.
Material
Your own laptop with a music application (DAW); Ableton Live, Logic or Cubase and over-ear headphones. This is not included in the course fee.
Schedule
2 lessons per week, over a 6 week period.
Registration

If you do not have a Swedish personal identification number, we kindly ask you to select the English form. Shortly after you have applied for the course, you will receive a confirmation. We recommend booking the course at least two weeks before the planned start date. If there are not enough registrations two weeks before the start date, we may need to cancel the course.

Harry Perry
Dr Harry Perry är en brittisk kompositör/producent baserad i Uppsala. Han avslutade sin doktorsexamen i musikkomposition vid Bangor University, Wales, 2023. Harry är både utbildad i klassisk ensemblekomposition och en respekterad populärmusiker. Hans akustiska ensemblemusik har valts ut för workshops av BBC NOW, Ensemble Cymru och Allegri String Quartet; hans elektroakustiska musik har spridits av ElectroacousticWALES och hans populära verk (både solo som rryrry och i samarbete med andra artister) har återkommande spelats av Tom Robinson på BBC 6 Music. Hans musik har även spelats i många olika TV-program, så som Love Island Australia, Saturday Night Live (USA) och programtrailer på BBC.
