Target Group
The course is suitable for both beginners and those with previous experience of metalwork. As the course is held in English, participants must be confident both witch speaking as well as understanding.
Course Aims
You will acquire skills in the basic principles of metalwork, get a “hands on” experience at the workbench as well as the oportunity to create your own designs in metal. By the end of the course you should have created a original piece in your own style.
Course Contents
We'll explore the fundamentals of metalwork such as filing, sawing and soldering. A recommended first project for beginners is a ring, since the process include the most important techniques in silver smithing. Participants who already have experience in metalwork may proceed to more advanced projects.
Working Method
The course is given in a workshop style, in which the teacher combines group presentations with individual technical guidance and creative support. The course will take place in our beautiful studios at Drottninggatan 116 A in central Stockholm. Group size between 4 to 10 participants.
Materials
Materials are not included in the course fee, but can be purchased at the course. We work primarily in silver, but other materials such as copper and brass are also available. Ask the teacher if you would like to include other types of materials in your project.

Alexandra Jansson Moreno
Alexandra Jansson Moreno är utbildad här på Folkuniversitet på det ettåriga programmet Silversmide & Smyckesdesign, följt av kandidatubildningen Smycke & Corpus: Ädellab på Konstfack. Hon har också gått en utbytestermin på Pratt Institute i New York.
Hantverkets och smyckens relation till kroppen var det som fångade Alexandras intresse. Det dröjde innan hon tog sin konstnärliga ådra på allvar och hennes förhoppning är att hjälpa andra att våga. Kreativt skapande är roligt, utmanande och utvecklande – något som Alexandra tycker att alla borde testa. Hon vill gärna föra vidare sina tekniska kunskaper samt visa hur en konstnärlig process kan se ut.
