Previous knowledge
Our courses are open to everyone and are therefore suitable for both beginners and more experienced. You get individual support at your own level.
Content
You will learn thumbing, ringing and rolling. You will learn how to process the clay and various decoration techniques as well as how to glaze. The course leader will, among other things, go through decorations and joints.
Teaching form/Course structure
The teaching mostly consists of practical work under the supervision of the course leader. Some briefings are joint. The group consists of 4-12 participants.
Material
We work with stoneware clay. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired ware is very durable and that the glazes are lead-free. A material cost of SEK 80/kg is added, which is paid by swish/card during the last course session. The material cost includes clay, access to engobes and glazes, as well as firing. Our compendium on ceramics is also included in the course fee.
Development
Ceramic craft encompasses a wide range of possibilities, offering many opportunities to deepen both technique and form expression. As the teaching is largely based on individual guidance, there are excellent conditions for further development by taking one or more ceramics courses.
Premises
The ceramics studio is a spacious venue with a welcoming atmosphere. The studio is equipped with ten electric pottery wheels and generous work surfaces. You’ll find all the tools you need here, along with a wide selection of unique glazes and engobes. In the adjacent kiln room, we continuously fire participants’ work in our three large ceramic kilns.
Course leader
The atelier is run by artists with solid training in the respective subject. The teacher of this course understands Swedish, but the course is held in English.
Practical information
Bring an apron or clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. A change of clothes is recommended.
Finished items can be collected during our designated pickup times, which your course leader will inform you about. Collection can take place no earlier than three weeks after the glazing session.
The course will take a break during week 50.
