The course takes place on Saturday-Sunday, April 18th and 19th, between 10:00-16.00. After that, the glazing of your pieces is scheduled for Friday, May 2th, between 13-15.15.
Previous knowledge
Our courses are open to everyone and are therefore suitable for both beginners and more experienced. You get individual support at your own level.
Content
You will learn thumbing, ringing and rolling. You will learn how to process the clay and various decoration techniques as well as how to glaze. The course leader will, among other things, go through decorations and joints.
Teaching form/Course structure
The teaching mostly consists of practical work under the supervision of the course leader. Some briefings are joint. The group consists of 4-12 participants.
Material
We work with stoneware clay. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired ware is very durable and that the glazes are lead-free. A material cost of SEK 80/kg is added, which is paid by swish/card during the last course session. The material cost includes clay, access to engobes and glazes, as well as firing. Our compendium on ceramics is also included in the course fee.
Development
The ceramic craft is extensive and the possibilities to improve your technique and develop your design language are endless. Since the teaching largely takes place in the form of individual supervision, you have good opportunities to develop if you take several semesters or different ceramics courses.
Premises
In newly renovated premises in the Old Porcelain Factory in Gustavsberg, we have created a classic ceramics workshop, equipped with ten lathes and well-sized work surfaces. We also provide a large selection of tools and glazes that we prepare in our glaze room.
Course leader
The atelier is run by artists with solid training in the respective subject.
The teacher of this course understands Swedish, but the course is held in English.
