Mai Parada has been teaching Swedish since 1982. Throughout this whole period she has worked with all types of courses, such as SFI, Swedish Language and Orientation Program, Joint Summer School and a variety of summer courses. For a period of 16 years she was a head teacher for the Swedish Language and Orientation Program for exchange students at the Lund University. She supervised other teachers and prepared study material. For the time being, Mai's main focus is on the Swedish language education for companies, distance-learning and summer courses. She has always been interested in various teaching methods and implements digital media in the language education.
In the end of 1990's came out a book in Swedish for beginners, which she was a coauthor of. In addition to that, she has co-written two more books: Swedish as a foreign langauge and Swedish for medical staff.
During 1999-2002 she prepared teh first four distance-learning courses in Swedish as a foreign language. After that, together with her colleague she created additional three courses and two coures in Swedish for medical staff. Since that time hundreds of students from all over the world have participated in these distance-learning courses.
Together with her colleague she is currently an editor of the web magazine Midioma designed for everyone who wants to keep up with the Swedish language.
Mai is an examiner of Swedex, a certificate in Swedish at three levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference.
