Folkuniversitetet, the University of Gothenburg Extension, is a national adult education organization founded by the University of Gothenburg and the Gothenburg Student Union in 1941.

Folkuniversitetet offers a wide range of adult education courses throughout Sweden. The organization consists of five regional offices attached to the Universities of Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, Lund and Umeå. Each region has a board of directors appointed by the local university.

Folkuniversitetet is independent of all political, religious, commercial and trade union interests.

Our vision is to provide people with the best possible prospects for a richer life, both in a private and professional context, by enabling them to add continually to their knowledge and develop their skills through a variety of creative activities.

Folkuniversity runs mainly non-credit courses. We welcome students from all backgrounds and age groups. Our clients include visiting students, scientists, teachers, businessmen, medical personnel and au pairs.

We offer courses, lectures and seminars in a wide variety of subjects.
